about me

Matt

Licensed Counselling Therapist (LCT-C) & Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC)

Hi, I’m Matt Boudreau. I am the owner and therapist of Breaking Trail Counselling Services.

I have a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and a master’s degree of education in counselling from the University of New Brunswick (UNB). After completing my engineering degree and working in the field, I realized I was not working  in a job I was passionate about. In 2013, I began my journey to a career in counselling by volunteering and working for various non-profit organizations, including homeless shelters.

I live in my hometown of Fredericton, with my wife Natalie, our son Milo and Australian cattle dog Kona.

about the name

I named my practice Breaking Trail because it represents making your own path, which is how I got to my career in counselling. Breaking trail is not always easy, but it’s ultimately rewarding and worthwhile. Sometimes the best path is not the one laid out before you, but the one you choose to create for yourself.
